The individuals presenting their case during the initial session urged the NBE to make public the NEET PG answer key, response sheets, raw and pre-normalized scores, as well as normalized results for each shift.
The NEET PG case is scheduled for a hearing at the Supreme Court today, where students’ apprehensions regarding the transparency of results and the normalization procedures employed by the National Board of Examinations for Medical Sciences (NBEMS) will be deliberated upon. The petition, initially lodged on September 7, underwent its first hearing on September 13.
On September 20, the case concerning the standardization of marks, answer keys, and the outcomes of the medical entrance examination was deliberated by a panel of three judges headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud of India, with the participation of Justice Manoj Misra and Justice JB Pardiwala.
The initial petitioners at the outset of the hearing urged the NBE to disclose the NEET PG answer key, response sheets, raw and pre-normalized scores, as well as normalized outcomes across all shifts. They advocated for the regular publication of NEET PG answer keys and question papers to uphold transparency standards. Furthermore, they sought a court order to halt the counselling procedures until all issues were resolved.
The NEET PG exam for this year took place in a dual-shift pattern instead of the typical single-shift format. On August 11, the exam occurred in two sessions: one from 9 am to 12:30 pm and the other from 3:30 to 7 pm. Due to this modified arrangement, the Board had to implement a normalization process.
The official notice from NBEMS mentioned that they have implemented a procedure similar to the one employed by AIIMS-New Delhi for managing examinations held in multiple shifts, such as the INI-CET, to compile results for NEET-PG 2024.
