Moreover, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has activated Stage 4 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in response to the prolonged “severe” air quality conditions persisting in Delhi for the last five days.

The minister announced that starting tomorrow, authorities will enforce GRAP-4, suspending in-person classes for all students except those in Class 10 and 12.

Haryana Government Grants DCs Power to Suspend Classes Amid Rising Pollution

The escalation of pollution led to the Haryana government issuing an order on Saturday. The government tasked all Deputy Commissioners with evaluating pollution levels in their districts and granted them the authority to temporarily suspend classes up to the fifth grade in schools. The state government’s Public Relations Department revealed that the Directorate of School Education had sent a letter to all District Deputy Commissioners regarding this matter.

Dr. Manoj Kumar, the Deputy Commissioner of Sonipat District, has mandated the closure of schools up to the fifth grade due to the deteriorating air quality in the region. He mentioned that online classes will persist during this period. As for Faridabad and Gurugram, there is uncertainty surrounding the status of schools, with the local administration yet to reach a conclusive decision on whether they will operate as usual.

Air quality in Noida and Ghaziabad is also concerning due to pollution. As of now, there are no directives to shut down schools or switch to online classes. Parents and students are advised to reach out to their respective schools for further information.
