The reorganization will extend beyond the domestic operations of the expanded Air India, encompassing international routes where both Air India and Vistara are currently active. Moreover, adjustments are being made to slots at specific international airports to accommodate these changes.

Air India is strategizing to reduce the duplication between its aging aircraft and Vistara’s planes on specific routes following their upcoming merger. This initiative aims to ensure passengers have a clear expectation of the service quality they will encounter. Vistara’s fleet of 70 airplanes, comprising 63 narrow-body and seven wide-body jets, generally provides a more enhanced flying experience compared to many of Air India’s older planes that still include remnants from its previous government era ownership.

Following the merger announcement by Air India, the continuity of the Vistara product has been confirmed until at least a few months following the merger’s implementation on November 12. Customers will find it easy to distinguish flights operated by Vistara aircraft and crew, marked by a distinctive four-digit flight number commencing with 2, as opposed to Air India’s three-digit flight numbers.
