As per the complaint, Akhtar, in the TV interview, had allegedly drawn parallels between the Taliban and Hindu extremists in the backdrop of the radical outfit seizing power in Afghanistan

The complainant withdrew the case, leading to Akhtar’s exoneration.

On Monday, a duplicate of the order was provided.

In October 2021, Santosh Dubey filed a defamation case against Akhtar.

In an interview, he accused Akhtar of strategically tarnishing the RSS’s reputation with deliberate actions.

Allegedly drawing parallels between the Taliban and Hindu extremists, Akhtar sparked controversy in a TV interview following the radical outfit’s rise to power in Afghanistan, as stated in the complaint.

Recently, Dubey lodged a fresh plea with the magistrate seeking to retract the complaint against Akhtar.

Consequently, they expressed a lack of desire to pursue legal action against the defendant.

Consequently, the court exonerated the songwriter and closed the case as dismissed.

Back in October 2021, advocate Santosh Dubey, a self-proclaimed RSS supporter, lodged a defamation lawsuit. He claimed that Javed Akhtar’s comments in a TV interview had tarnished the reputation of the Nagpur-based organization, accusing him of deliberately and meticulously plotting to damage its image.

Akhtar’s comments comparing Hindu extremists to the Taliban during an interview have sparked controversy. Some groups were outraged by his remarks, especially Dubey, who felt that Akhtar had unjustly involved the RSS in the discussion. The context of the Taliban’s ascension to power in Afghanistan added fuel to the fire of this contentious debate.
