According to a 2021 study conducted by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection in collaboration with the Army Corps of Engineers, approximately 52 miles of the primary wall and 33 miles of the secondary wall were constructed under the Trump administration. Moreover, over 370 miles of deteriorated or obsolete border barriers were also upgraded.
During his campaign, Trump’s plan to construct a wall spanning anywhere from 1,000 to 500 miles was revealed. However, a report in 2021 indicated that only 5.2% of his intended project had been completed. The total length of the U.S.-Mexico border is approximately 2,000 miles, rendering the 52-mile segment of the new primary wall a mere 2.6% of the entire stretch. It’s worth noting that Trump’s primary aim was to enhance security in select border areas rather than solely focusing on erecting a completely new barrier.
