Multiple raids were carried out in various districts including Srinagar, Ganderbal, Bandipora, Kulgam, Budgam, Anantnag, and Pulwama.
Multiple raids were conducted across various districts of Jammu and Kashmir today, leading to the dismantling of a recently emerged terrorist organization known as Tehreek Labaik Ya Muslim (TLM). The Counter-Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) unit of the Jammu and Kashmir Police spearheaded the anti-terror operations. Officials assert that TLM, believed to be a splinter group of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), was under the command of a Pakistani overseer known by the pseudonym ‘Baba Hamas’.Police reports mention that comprehensive raids occurred across several districts including Srinagar, Ganderbal, Bandipora, Kulgam, Budgam, Anantnag, and Pulwama. The main focus was to dismantle a recruitment network associated with the TLM, which was identified as a key player in the recruitment of young individuals for insurgent operations. Recent data suggests a significant rise in recruitments attributed to this particular group.
Immediately after a tragic terror incident in Ganderbal district claimed the lives of seven individuals, an operation was promptly launched. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha disclosed that the attack in Ganderbal involved two foreign terrorists, suspected to have crossed the border from the Bandipora area in North Kashmir.
Early inquiries indicate that despite being a newly established group, TLM shows affiliations, both in terms of ideology and operations, with Lashkar-e-Taiba, a prominent terrorist organization in the area. Allegedly guided by ‘Baba Hamas,’ a reputed Pakistani operative with extensive links to international terror circles, TLM is believed to have been groomed for activities involving cross-border infiltration, funding, and recruitment.
Officials indicated that the raids were initiated following intelligence information suggesting an extensive presence of the TLM throughout the Kashmir valley. They mentioned that the mission was carried out meticulously to focus on crucial individuals responsible for recruiting and organizing fresh members.
Security measures have been heightened in response to the recent Ganderbal attack, which has escalated tensions in the Kashmir valley. Checkpoints have been reinforced, and extra paramilitary troops have been dispatched to ensure heightened surveillance in major urban areas and border districts.
