Raheema Rahman, their daughter, posted an enigmatic message after the news. “There is ease with every difficulty,” Raheema posted in an Instagram story with a video of snow falling. Their lawyer, Vandana Shah, released a joint statement on Tuesday night confirming the separation of Khatija, Raheema, and Ameen’s parents, AR Rahman and Saira Banu.Their emotional toll was detailed in the statement: “Mrs. Saira has decided to divorce Mr. AR Rahman after a long marriage. The couple has discovered that, despite their intense love for one another, the conflicts and challenges have caused an unbridgeable rift that neither of them feels capable of overcoming at the moment. Mrs. Saira asks for the public’s understanding and privacy during this trying time.
On X (previously Twitter), AR Rahman also discussed the split, writing, “We had wanted to reach the grand thirty, but everything seems to have an invisible conclusion. Broken hearts could cause even God’s throne to quiver. We look for meaning in this shattering, even though the parts might not find their home again.
