During a meeting with Australian Education Minister Jason Clare in Melbourne, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan emphasized the mutual progress in knowledge between India and Australia. Delving into discussions at an International Education Conference, Pradhan underlined the prospects of Australian university branches opening in India, reflecting on the promising future collaboration between the two nations.
He mentioned that by collaborating, nations have the potential to progress in knowledge, utilize technology to tackle global issues, and open up boundless prospects for student innovation and entrepreneurship.He stated that by working together, nations can progress knowledge, harness technology to address worldwide issues, and open up limitless possibilities for student innovation and entrepreneurship.
The minister held a bilateral meeting with his Australian counterpart wherein Clare emphasised the importance of a good education system that can change more than just lives. He added that by 2035, one in four people around the world who get a university degree will get it in India. Pradhan visited South Melbourne Primary School and Monash University.
He pointed out that Deakin, among Australian universities, had a presence in India for three decades, and currently, Wollongong operates a single campus there.
An official statement from the meeting highlighted on building the strong institutional linkages between Indian and Australian higher education institutions. The ministers agreed to further strengthen the partnership in critical and emerging technologies and explore the possibility of establishing branch campuses of Australian universities in India.
Pradhan expressed on X that the commencement of Australian university branches in India signifies only the start of what can be achieved.
