The son of NCP-SCP leader Anil Deshmukh, Katol constituency candidate Salil Deshmukh, charged that the BJP was behind an alleged assault on his father.

According to ANI, he further asserted that the BJP is attempting to destabilize the area, as it is likely to lose the upcoming elections in Katol and Nagpur. Consequently, he believes the BJP is resorting to such tactics to influence the political landscape.

After arriving at the Katol police station from Gramin Rugnalaya, Anil Deshmukh received temporary treatment before authorities sent him immediately to Alexis Hospital in Nagpur. Those who accompanied Anil Deshmukh filed a complaint. He appealed to the thousands of people gathered to maintain peace. He also stated that the BJP is clearly losing the election and believes they can act without consequences due to Amit Shah being the Union Home Minister and Devendra Fadnavis serving as both the Deputy Chief Minister and Maharashtra Home Minister. Deshmukh criticized their opposition to the safety of Katol and Nagpur.

This attack occurred on the final day of the Maharashtra Assembly election campaign, which was set for November 20, adding further tension to the already charged political atmosphere.

Salil Deshmukh, the son of NCP leader and former Maharashtra minister Anil Deshmukh, has accused the BJP of planning the alleged attack that injured him. Regarding the accusations, the BJP has not yet responded.

On November 23, officials will count votes across all 288 constituencies. The opposition MVA coalition, consisting of the Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP, aims to unseat the ruling Mahayuti alliance, which includes the BJP, the Ajit Pawar-led NCP faction, and the Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde.
